COVID-19: Updates to COVID Vaccination and Face Coverings
COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

An announcement by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) on Monday confirmed the following:

  • Everyone aged 18 or over will be eligible for a COVID-19 Booster Jab, at least 3 months since their last dose;
  • All children aged 12-15 years will now all be eligible for a second COVID-19 vaccination, no sooner than 12 weeks after the first dose.

This also builds on the previous announcement that those aged 16 to 17 can also receive a second COVID-19 dose, no sooner than 12 weeks after the first dose.

It is now more important than ever that you come forward for your Winter Vaccinations.

These will help protect yourself, and those around you, from respiratory viruses this Winter. Please visit www.nhs.uk/WinterVaccinations to find out more and book your vaccinations if eligible.

If you haven't yet received a Flu Vaccination this year, please ask our pharmacy teams, or for more information, please visit www.wellwaycentral.co.uk/flu. We're even offering walk-in Flu Vaccinations for all those aged 65+  please visit www.wellwaycentral.co.uk/news/grab-a-flu-jab for more information.

We are working hard to increase capacity at our vaccination site.

We are working closely with NHS England, Regional and National systems to co-ordinate the response to this recent announcement, and increase capacity in order to deliver these life-saving vaccines.

We are not currently offering COVID-19 Booster doses to anyone in this new cohort. Understandably there will be a big backlog to work through, and we will be prioritising those with most clinical need. We are working with NHS England to co-ordinate the rollout  please await further information in due course on how to book your vaccination.

Face Coverings Now Mandatory in Shops & on Public Transport
New rules introduced this Tuesday (30th November), mean you must now wear a face covering on public transport and in shops, unless exempt. Patients must continue to wear face coverings within our pharmacies, unless exempt. Thank you for continuing to protect yourself, our staff, and those around you.
