New, innovative patient information system installed at Wellway Pharmacy

New solutions to your pharmacy needs

At Wellway Pharmacy, we’ve been working hard to improve our patient’s experience when accessing our pharmacies and using our services. We’ve been trialling a new computer system to improve our service at our Pegswood branch over the past months, and after a successful implementation we’re now very excited to be rolling this out to our Morpeth Pharmacy over the coming days. Take a look at some of the amazing advantages for our patients and staff that this system brings using the icons below.

Please bear with us

Whilst we get our new systems fully implemented, and our staff fully oriented with using the new technology, there may be some instances over the coming days where our service takes a little longer than we’d want, for example if we experience some teething problems with the software. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience, in the unlikely event this does occur. Please be reassured that you can expect nothing else to change – we’ll still have the same, friendly staff, providing the same, high-quality service.

Issues with 24/7 Collection Point Connectivity

Last updated Fri 22nd March 01:20
We’re unable to add any routine items to our 24/7 collection point at present, due to a software fault outside of our control.
Your prescription will be ready to collect at the pharmacy counter during our opening times, and you may receive a text message informing you of this instead.
If you need your prescription adding to the collection point as you can’t make it in during our opening times, then please call us on 01670 510005 and we’ll be more than happy to add this to the collection point for you. We’re so sorry for any inconvenience this causes and we hope to have normal service resumed in just a few days.

Why has this happened?
Upon updating our computer system, our suppliers assured us we would have connectivity with the 24/7 prescription point, however unfortunately at present the barcodes printed on the prescription bags, to add them to the machine, are not being recognised by the collection point. We are still able to add items manually, however this takes a long time and it is not possible to add all the usual items to the collection point temporarily. We have escalated this urgently with the relevant technical teams and hope to have this resolved as soon as possible in the coming days. We’re really so sorry for any inconvenience from this technical fault that’s outside of our control.

If you need your prescription and are unsure what’s happening with it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any point – 01670 510005 for our Morpeth branch and we’ll be more than happy to help you get the medication you need.

We’ll let you know when it’s ready.

We can send you a text message when your prescription is ready – saving you time, trips and worry. Our system tracks the progress of all prescriptions being dispensed, and will let you know when it’s ready to be collected. You can still get in touch if you think you’ll need your items more urgently. We’re still of course offering our fantastic 24/7 prescription service for collecting your items, which will operate in the usual way.

We’re continuing to dispense your medicines as normal, and this may involve sending you text messages if you’ve provided your GP surgery your mobile number for text messaging purposes – but if you need to update your details, or would like to opt-in, or opt-out, complete our registration form. Caring for the planet is a little bit easier.

Processing hundreds of prescriptions each day unfortunately means we do get through a lot of paper – but not anymore. Our new system allows us to process most usual prescriptions fully electronically, recording your signature on one of our devices, dramatically reducing the amount of paper used, doing our bit for the environment.
Please note, as our system will now not print B-side sheets (medicines lists) automatically, if you would like these included in your prescription bag, please let us know, and we’d be more than happy to print these for you.

Couple this with the new, all-electric and zero-emission electric van we’re using for our prescription deliveries and logistics, and we’re onto a winning formula for taking care of the planet. Find out more about our sustainability initiatives, or join us on our sustainability journey.

Improved care & access to services.

Our new system will allow our whole dispensing process to become more efficient and streamlined, whilst still ensuring the same quality and safety of service for our patients. A range of new innovations will make tracking prescriptions through each stage of the dispensing process easier, allowing us to serve patients quicker and also reduce waiting times for prescriptions to be dispensed.

With the advent of pharmacy first, and other services highlighting the clinical expertise of our pharmacy team, this technology will free up our staff’s time to focus on caring for you. Find out more about the fantastic services available to care for you below.
