Eligibility

General eligibility criteria for our Pharmacy First service is outlined below. To use our service, patients must:

Be an NHS Patient registered in England.
Meet inclusion criteria for the presenting condition.
Be within the specified age ranges for these conditions.
Not have warning signs requiring a higher level of care.

There are further specific criteria for assessment, depending on the condition you’d like treatment for. We’ll go through all this in your consultation. If you’d like a quicker experience, then you can book online, which will check some eligibility criteria before you come to see us.

Costs

Your consultation is completely free, funded by the NHS as the Pharmacy First service. If our pharmacists decide you may require treatment, then you may have to pay an NHS prescription charge for the cost of your treatment, if you pay for this normally.

Sometimes, we may offer treatment that falls outside of the pharmacy first service, which you can purchase from our pharmacy counter, or may be free, if eligible, from our Minor Ailments Service.

Our Team Will…

Take a history to understand any symptoms or concerns you’ve been having.
Offer investigations relevant to the condition you need help with, if required.
Explain the findings clearly and answer any questions you may have.
Offer treatment, if indicated, for the condition.
Prepare any medicines safely and efficiently, ready for you to walk away with straight away.

Your Safety and Comfort Come First.

All our pharmacies have comfortable, confidential consulting rooms where you can consult with our pharmacists.

During your consultation, we’ll check your eligibility, talk you through any available management options, and answer any questions you may have. We’ll explain the potential benefits and any risks, so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you. There’s no pressure — you’re free to change your mind at any point.

If we feel you may benefit from further medical support, we can signpost or refer you to a number of services.
