Frequently Asked Questions.
Flu can be serious, especially for older adults, pregnant women, and those with underlying health conditions. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, reduce your risk of serious illness, and help prevent spreading flu to others.
Flu can also ruin plans! Don’t let the virus get in the way of what you’re up to this Winter. Booking a Private Flu Vaccination can provide peace of mind – whether it’s a holiday, meeting up with friends, or the festive period you’re looking forward to.
The types of flu virus in circulation change each year, so it’s recommended to get your jab annually. The vaccine is updated each season to help protect against the strains expected to spread.
Those eligible for NHS Flu Vaccination in 2025-2026 include:

We can provide a Flu Vaccination to those who are immunosuppressed.
According to the NHS website, you may have a weakened immune system (be immunosuppressed) due to a health condition, treatment or medicine, including if you:
- have ever had a blood cancer, such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma
- have had an organ, bone marrow or stem cell transplant
- have HIV (at any stage)
- have a genetic disorder affecting your immune system
- have certain medical treatments, such as steroid medicine (depending on your dose), certain antibody therapies, chemotherapy or radiotherapy (including those whose treatment ended up to 6 months ago)
- take certain medicines that increase your risk of infection, such as azathioprine, dexamethasone, prednisolone, ciclosporin or mycophenolate (depending on your dose)
- take long-term immunosuppressive treatment for conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, scleroderma and psoriasis.
If you are unsure, please speak to your pharmacist, GP or specialist for advice. You can also confirm your eligibility with the healthcare professional at your vaccination appointment.
These lists are a summary and do not cover everything. Read a full summary of those who are eligible in the COVID-19 chapter of the green book on GOV.UK.
We provide walk-in vaccinations at specified times during vaccination season. Simply pop-in or give us a call during these times, and we can make sure you’re vaccinated comfortably, quickly and safely.
Find out suitable locations and times using our clinic date and time list, shown above. You can always give us a call to check availability and how busy we are beforehand.
We also have a dedicated walk-in vaccinations page if you’d like any further information.
We can currently provide vaccinations to the following ages:
- Adult COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination: 18 years and over
- Children’s Nasal Flu Vaccination: ages 2-3 years
If you need a Vaccination and you’re not within these age groups, you may be able to get your jab at other pharmacies (which can be found via the NHS website), or receive your vaccination via a participating GP surgery.
We can provide private, paid Flu Vaccinations to anyone who:
- Is aged between 18 to 64 years
- Is not otherwise eligible for an NHS Flu Vaccination (we can provide these too – find out more here).
- Would like the added benefit of protection against the Flu this Winter.
We look forward to taking care of you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
The NHS offers free flu vaccines to people who meet certain eligibility criteria. If you’re not eligible, you can still protect yourself by booking a private flu vaccination at your local pharmacies in Morpeth, Pegswood and Ashington.
We may use slightly different Flu Vaccine types than those that are available through the NHS Service – due to age criteria and vaccine availability – but be reassured they’re still safe and effective at preventing Influenza. We’ll discuss the vaccines we use at your appointment.
Our Flu Vaccination Service typically runs from September to March each year.
Recent guidance from the immunisation committee recommends October onwards as the best time to get vaccinated, to ensure ongoing immunity throughout the winter. Appointments are available from October for all eligible groups.
People who are pregnant are eligible for vaccination from September. Please get in touch if you’d like to organise a flu vaccination in September.
Flu Vaccines have been used for decades safely, and effectively, to prevent serious illness from Influenza.
Mild side effects such as a sore arm or slight temperature may occur and usually pass quickly. Serious side effects are rare, and risk factors such as allergy to certain ingredients are always screened for at every appointment, ensuring your safety. Our staff are trained to manage reactions to vaccines, and are always on hand to support you with any questions you may have.
Receiving Flu and COVID vaccinations at the same appointment has proven to be safe, effective, and efficient. Usually, we’ll administer one vaccine in each arm, after making sure you are eligible, and suitable to receive vaccination.
If you have any questions about receiving two vaccinations at the same time, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
