Our Story
Local & Independent Since 1995
Wellway Pharmacy Limited was incorporated in 1995, as a venture between local Pharmacists and GPs in Wellway Medical Group practice. Wellway Pharmacy Morpeth and Pegswood were then opened as true pillars of community healthcare.
Our partnership with local GPs allows for joined-up, person-centred care driven by compassion and expertise, with a local and independent nature. Some of our founding GP Partners remain on Wellway Pharmacy’s board to this day.
Growing with you
In 2008, Central Pharmacy opened its doors in Ashington, and in 2020 Wellway and Central Pharmacies officially decided to work together to promote our unique pharmacy vision and care. Ashington Pharmacy then joined our group in early 2024.
From our first pharmacy to our current four sites across Morpeth, Ashington, and Pegswood, we have evolved alongside our patients’ needs—investing in 24/7 collection technology, expanding clinical services, speedy prescription assembly and advanced consulting rooms.

We’re local and fiercely independent. We know our communities, and are driven by caring for our neighbours and region. We also champion local people in our employment practices, health promotion work, and services we provide.
We’re also dedicated to sustainability and are proud of our environmental credentials – including using zero-emission delivery vehicles, and paperless prescription dispensing for the majority of our medicines.
