The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
  • New continuous cough and/or
  • High temperature
  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste  

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness If you have coronavirus symptoms:
  • Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
  • You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home
  • Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home
  • Plan ahead and ask others for help to ensure that you can successfully stay at home and consider what can be done for vulnerable people in the household
  • Ask your employer, friends and family to help you to get the things you need to stay at home
  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, each time using soap and water, or use hand sanitiser
  • If you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home, or your condition gets worse, or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days, then use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999

Stay at Home
  • If you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus illness (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started. (See ending isolation section below for more information)
  • If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill
  • It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • For anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period. (See ending isolation section below for more information
  • If you can, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period
  • If you cannot move vulnerable people out of your home, stay away from them as much as possible

Long opening times

Our teams are always here for you  with our Central Pharmacy Ashington site open 100 hours per week.

Our friendly and professional teams of staff are here to help you and your healthcare. Whether you're collecting a prescription, need some medical advice on an ailment, or are using one of our many services we provide, rest assured we're here for you and open for long hours to provide greater flexibility to you when accessing medicines.

Our Central Pharmacy site in Ashington is open extended hours, totalling 100 hours per week, with early morning and late night openings six days per week. This provides patients at this site with greater flexibility with accessing their medicines, and also allows patients to attend the pharmacy at less busier times if they wish.

Wellway Pharmacy Morpeth is open six times a week, including Saturdays, and Wellway Pharmacy Pegswood is open five days a week, being close to local amenities and right in the centre of Pegswood to allow patients easy access.

24-hour Prescription Collection

Easy access to your Medicines, 24/7.

Our 24-hour prescription collection service at our Wellway Pharmacy Morpeth site provides ultimate flexibility to patients who need to collect prescriptions. This exclusive service is one of the first of its kind in the North East of England, demonstrating our commitment to innovation and helping you easily access your medicines when it suits you.

This service allows our patients to collect their prescriptions day or night, seven days a week, for the full 365 days of the year, and is free to use. Simply receive an SMS text message when your prescription is ready, enter the code in the message at our collection point, easily pay for your prescription if required, and collect your medicines from the hatch once released to you.

Free Prescription Delivery

Award-winning prescription delivery for those who need it.

Our friendly delivery drivers can deliver prescriptions no matter the weather, to those who are housebound, who need it the most for our pharmacy patients. Our service operates on over our entire pharmacy service areas at all of our sites, and even further afield, and is of no additional cost to our patients. One of our drivers has even won 'Pharmacy Delivery Driver of the Year' for 2019 in the North of Tyne Local Pharmaceutical Council Awards for his excellence in prioritising the healthcare and wellbeing of our patients.

Additional Services

Additional support to access medicines, when you need it.

All of our pharmacy sites offer a range of services to grant you access to medicines when you need them. All of our pharmacies operate the 'Think Pharmacy First' scheme, which allows some patients who receive free prescriptions to access medicines for minor ailments at no cost, without a visit to a Doctor or Nurse.

If you've ever run out of your repeat prescription medicines, and have forgotten to order more, then you can benefit from our 'Emergency Supply of Medicines' scheme which we also operate at all of our sites. Simply contact us or visit the link below for further information.
